  1. Background/Introduction

a. The Snoball Shop is a local ice-cream/shaved ice shop in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It was established in 2016. As of now, there is one location as well as a SnoMobile (food truck) and is now on its way to expanding to two additional locations! Snoball sells soda, milkshakes, snow cones, drinks, and more all in the form of shaved ice! They have a variety of flavors, sizes, and toppings to choose from. Snoball’s demographic is really for anyone who wants a sweet treat. If you visit our Instagram, you will find a variety of pictures of children and adults and even some dogs! Snoball is also in support of Military and Veterans and offer discounts to those who have served. Snoball’s main aim is to see their customers having a fun genuine time no matter the occasion.

b. This blog post is a writing for class COMM 323 (Leadership & Events Management). The goal of this writing is to give an event idea for a local shop that both benefits the business but also benefits the community. Information will be given in three different categories; introduction, SWOT analysis, and event recommendation.

2. SWOT Anaylsis

Strengths

1. Demographic – The demographic that comes with local neighborhoods are sure to hit the nail on Snoball’s known demographic. There are many kids and adults looking for sweets which ensures that they are holding up to their said demographic.

2. Profit – Profit from a venue like this will be big on business!

3. Using the SnoMobile will allow for them to move around to different parts of where customers may be

4. Uniqueness – Snoball isn’t just a normal ice-cream shop so it will cater to possibly some more crowds.

Weaknesses

1. May not have all ingredients needed if they don’t stock and maybe take count of possible appearances.

2. If not advertised on social media they may not get the marketing/crowd needed.

3. May be overwhelmed or not as prepared for a huge crowd considering only a small amount of people can be in the Snomobile.

Opportunities

1. May come into contact with people who want to do business with them for their own events.

2. Allows the company to meet with potential new customers. For example, they should hand out a flier or card with information on their company or have a QR code handy for their business.

3. If successful/popular they may become a permanent business for this event annually.

Threats

1. Possible competition with an Ice-cream truck or other trucks like Rita’s or Kona Ice.

2. Many people are particular with the food/drinks they consume (as they should be) so appearance of staff, truck, and products are important in regards to cleanliness.

3. Bad weather could derail this event.

3. Event Recommendation

a. The event that Snoball should host would be at a Main Park in Virginia Beach like Mount Trashmore for fourth of July! Virginia Beach is big on the 4th and like to go all out with fireworks. Not only would Snoball be providing their business but 40% of profit would also go to fundraising for Veterans in need. Snoball going to a popular venue, somewhat centered in VB, is sure to get some business. The target audience would be kids, adults, dogs, and especially veterans which are all their main demographic! This event would benefit Snoball by collecting profit and creating a good image to the public. This event also benefits the community by bringing people together and will capture the community’s attention to a very important and under looked community/issue. This event would help exemplify that Snoball is always going to be in support of their local veterans.
